A letter to our customers-COVID-19

Dear Valued Customer,

Supporting customers, the patients they serve, and our employees are our highest priorities here at Smiths Medical.

As a global business, we are closely monitoring the situation around COVID-19 and following guidance from appropriate governments and agencies including the World Health Organization.

Improving healthcare around the world is the foundation of our mission, and during this time of uncertainty we understand our products are needed more than ever. We have received several similar questions from multiple customers regarding any potential COVID-19 impact on product supply. It is important we provide all customers with the same information so we can focus our teams’ efforts on making devices for patients in need.

  • Smiths Medical manufactures products in 16 countries including the U.S., China and Mexico. All manufacturing sites are currently open and operating.
  • At this time, we have experienced minimal impact to our global supply chain and are able to supply underlying demand; however, COVID-19 related demand continues to increase resulting in some backorders.
  • Current backorders are primarily associated with ventilators, HEPA filters, and infusion pumps.
  • Our clinical and marketing teams have identified additional products that are either currently or expected to experience increased demand and we are taking appropriate steps to plan for this.
  • Manufacturing is currently being maximized within raw material availability and plant capacity.
  • We continue to work with our suppliers and business partners to accelerate access to components and raw materials to further expand manufacturing capacity.
  • Where required, we will run an allocation process to appropriate supply to needs in the market.
  • A global COVID-19 response team meets twice daily to monitor progress, review new information, and adjust plans and priorities accordingly.

Please be assured, Smiths Medical is taking all steps possible to serve our customers, healthcare providers, healthcare institutions, and patients during this unprecedented time. We ask for your continued partnership by placing orders, even for products on backorder, so that we can most accurately signal our supply chain and COVID-19 response team.
