Smiths Medical Launches New Wireless Ambulatory Infusion System in Four Markets

February 12, 2016

The CADD®-Solis pain management system with new wireless communication will help healthcare providers improve patient outcomes through better data-driven therapy decisions

Minneapolis, MN, April 12, 2016 – Smiths Medical, a leading global medical device manufacturer, announced today it has launched the CADD®-Solis Pain Management System with wireless communication capability in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the United Kingdom.  This customizable infusion system provides two-way wireless communication of infusion data between the CADD®-Solis pump and the PharmGuard® Server software installed on the hospital’s network to help increase efficiency and safety, reduce costs and improve patient outcomes.

“Wireless communication between the CADD®-Solis pump and PharmGuard® Server software will now allow hospitals to make better data-driven therapy decisions through user-friendly Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) reports,” said Jaime LaMontagne, Vice President, Infusion Systems.  “The new system is a great example of Smiths Medical’s commitment to advancing patient care and helping to improve outcomes through leading-edge technology.”

The CADD®-Solis wireless system will also allow hospitals to provide actionable reports when and where they are needed, and to deploy drug protocol libraries and software updates from the hospital’s server to the pumps.  The wireless feature can be turned on or off without affecting pump delivery, and lack of a wireless connection does not impact pump delivery or data retention.  The new CADD®-Solis pump uses the same PharmGuard® Server software as the Medfusion® 4000 syringe infusion pump, allowing hospitals to realize the cost benefit of having one software platform for multiple infusion pumps throughout their network.

The new CADD®-Solis pain management system with wireless communication will be demonstrated at the following conferences:

  • April 30-May 4 – Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) Annual Scientific Meeting in Auckland, New Zealand
  • May 19-20 – Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association (OAA) Annual Meeting in Manchester, England
  • May 28-30 – European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA) Congress in London, England
