  • Chris Holmes

    Chris Holmes

    President & CEO

    Chris serves as President & CEO of Smiths Medical, a £836M ($1.2B) division of Smiths Group, plc, that manufacturers specialty medical devices for the world’s healthcare markets. He also serves as a member of Smiths Group’s Executive Committee. Chris joined Smiths Medical in December 2015, to lead the company's Global Operations function. He brings with him to Smiths Medical more than 25 years of experience with a track record of driving results in both business and operations. Over his career Chris has delivered outstanding financial performance for the functions and businesses he’s led by focusing on customers and their requirements; driving operational excellence, quality and cost; and by coaching and developing people.

    Chris joined Smiths Medical from 3M Corporation where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain. Prior to that, Chris held the role of Executive Vice President of 3M’s Industrial Business Group, in addition to several senior leadership roles with 3M as a division general manager and operations leader during his 28 year career with the company.

    Chris holds a Bachelor of Science, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, from Sheffield Hallam University​.

  • Gary Barrett 

    Vice President, Global Regulatory, Compliance & Quality Systems

    Gary Barrett joined Smiths Medical in April 2018. In his role, Gary is responsible for leading the Global Regulatory, Compliance and Quality Systems teams.

    Gary brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to Smiths Medical, Gary served as the Senior Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Angiodynamics where he was responsible for all aspects of quality and regulatory compliance. Gary also served as the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Merit Medical where he led global regulatory submissions and compliance.

    Gary attended the University of Liverpool for his undergraduate degree. He received his Master’s in Ecological Management, certificate in Analytical Chemistry and PhD in Biotechnology from Cranfield University in the UK. Gary holds publications and patents in biosensor technology as well as microarray technology.

  • Brett Landrum

    CTO and Senior Vice President, R&D

    Brett serves as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of R&D. Brett and his team are dedicated to developing and delivering innovative products and solutions that improve the lives of patients and providers around the world.

    Brett joined Smiths Medical in 2015 as Director of Software Engineering leading the organization’s digital transformation efforts. Prior to joining Smiths Medical, Brett served as Director of Engineering for Medtronic leading the development and launch of Medtronic’s wireless remote patient ECG monitoring system. Brett has held a variety of additional leadership roles across the medical device, automotive, telecommunications and transportation industries. 

    He brings with him 20 years of experience, including an intimate knowledge of the product development lifecycle and a rich history of driving new product introductions. Brett has multiple U.S. and international patents.

    Brett holds a B.S. in Math and Information Systems from Indiana University Kokomo, an M.S. in Software Engineering from the University of St. Thomas and an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas.

  • Brenda McCormick

    Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President, Finance

    Brenda joined Smiths Medical in January 2018, where she is responsible for leading global finance, planning, accounting and shared services. Her background includes strategic planning, controllership, mergers and acquisitions and business operations.

    Prior to Smiths, Brenda served as the Vice President, Corporate Controller and Principal Accounting Officer at the Valspar Corporation, where she oversaw transformation of the global accounting, external reporting, enterprise reporting and shared services functions.  During her 11 years at Valspar, she held numerous global finance leadership roles, where she had a proven track record of driving continuous improvement and financial excellence across the organization. Earlier in her career, Brenda held financial management positions at Lawson Software, International Multifoods, The Pillsbury Company (Diageo) and Coca-Cola Enterprises.

    In addition, she serves on the Parks and Recreation Commission for the city of Edina, Minnesota, and participates in the Carlson School of Management mentorship program.

    Brenda holds a B.A. in Economics and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.  In 2015, she was recognized as a Top Women in Finance honoree by the publication Finance and Commerce.

  • Gretchen Randall

    General Counsel

    Gretchen Randall was appointed General Counsel for Smiths Medical in October 2018. In her role, Gretchen is responsible for leading the global Smiths Medical Legal function to deliver business objectives by providing strong, reliable legal and compliance advice and assistance.

    Since joining Smiths in 2013, Gretchen has held several roles of increasing responsibility at both Smiths Medical and Smiths Group. Most recently, she served as Associate General Counsel, Risk Management, as part of the Global Compliance team. Prior to joining Smiths, Gretchen held positions at Honeywell International Inc. and Minnesota-based law firm Lindquist & Vennum P.L.L.P.

    Gretchen holds a B.A. in Marketing and Economics from the University of St. Thomas and a Juris Doctorate from the William Mitchell College of Law.

  • Steve Rempe

    Stephen Rempe

    Senior Vice President, Global Human Resources

    Stephen joined Smiths Medical in 2017, as Vice President, Global Human Resources, where he is responsible for leading the global HR and Corporate Communications functions. Prior to joining Smiths Steve was at Boston Scientific for more than 12 years where he held several roles of increasing responsibility within Human Resources. Most recently, Stephen served as Vice President, Global Talent Management where he was a member of the HR Leadership Team and responsible for Talent Acquisition, Organization Development & Effectiveness, Talent Development, and Global Reporting and Analytics.

    In addition, Stephen serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Works, a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators and creative problem solvers.

    Along with Boston Scientific, Stephen previously held roles at Cummins, Inc. and Century Manufacturing.

    Stephen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and earned a Masters Certificate from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota with a specialization in Organization Development.

  • Carl Stamp

    Carl Stamp

    Senior Vice President, Global Marketing

    Carl Stamp joined Smiths Medical in April 2015.  Prior to Smiths, he held numerous executive level positions at Medtronic during a twelve-year tenure, including leadership roles in Marketing, Operations, R&D, and General Management. Prior to Medtronic, Carl spent over fifteen years with Wright Medical Technology in R&D, Sales Management, Marketing, and Business Development roles. As the VP of Marketing, he led the worldwide marketing efforts for all product segments, including large joint reconstruction, upper and lower extremities, and biologics, culminating in the company’s IPO in 2001. 

    Carl’s deep medical device industry experience and diverse functional knowledge provides exceptional foundation for leading the company’s product portfolio, as well as building alignment across all functional areas. 

    Carl holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa.
