Course Description

This instructor-led course is designed to facilitate a basic understanding of infusion therapy. The goal is to present the research and evidence that supports best practice for infusion therapy and improves patient outcomes.

This program will provide participants with the knowledge needed to select the vascular access device that reflects the lowest risk for complications and supports the safest course of prescribed therapy.

  • Discuss the infusion standards of practice
  • Describe the factors involved in vascular access device selection
  • Identify the most commonly used veins for placement of peripheral and central lines
  • List two potential complications of infusion therapy
  • Discuss two methods for accessing a vein
