St. Paul, MN, March 1, 2006 -- Smiths Medical MD, Inc. announced today that it has launched ProBloc® S Nerve Block Needles, a new line of insulated needles for peripheral nerve block procedures.

ProBloc® S needles are used by anesthesiologists for nerve location and injection of a local anesthetic into a peripheral nerve site. ProBloc® S single-shot needles feature a biocompatible insulation coating that provides a smooth exterior finish for easy insertion. The insulation coating is removed from the tip of the needles to allow the current from the nerve locator to travel down the needle and out the end directly into the site of the targeted nerve. ProBloc® S needles are available in five different sizes and include an integrated stimulating lead wire and attached injection set.

With the addition of ProBloc® S Nerve Block Needles to Smiths Medical’s line of peripheral nerve block products, managing patients undergoing peripheral nerve block procedures has never been easier. Smiths Medical offers a wide range of product choices for nerve location and post-operative pain management, including the Tracer® III Nerve Stimulator, CADD-Prizm® PCS II ambulatory infusion pump, and CADD-Legacy® PCA ambulatory infusion pump. By offering a full range of products, Smiths Medical provides anesthesiologists with the ability to have products that meet all their preferences without compromise.
