What is the distance across which smartX® can be used?
The distance is 10m, please take into consideration that any shielding walls/rooms may affect the signal.
How do can I clean smartX®? Use a damp cloth and mild detergent solution for cleaning. Do not immerse product in water. Do not use alcohol or solvents for cleaning.
How do you maintain the battery? As with all batteries they should be completely discharged if possible once a week or at least once a month.
If a battery has been stored for a long length of time it is necessary to fully charge and discharge it before use.
If a battery is no longer working return it to Smiths Medical.
Can I use a battery from another supplier? No – Only use batteries supplied by Smiths Medical Deutschland GmbH for this system.
What is the life expectancy of smartX®? Life expectancy is 5 years.
What is the life expectancy of the smartX® battery? Life expectancy is 2 years dependant upon use.
Can HemoDraw™ be used with smartX®? Yes: HemoDraw™ can be used with smartX®. A customised clamp is being developed but until this is available HemoDraw can be fixed to the IV pole above the smartX sender using the MX261 clamp.
Why do I have to press the button for so long to turn the unit on or off? This is a safety feature, designed to ensure that the system is not accidentally turned off by pressing a button momentarily in error.
