| | Y Connectors[ Features ] [ Ordering Info ] Portex Y-connectors have luer connections. These are a standard connection system used in the medical field, incorporating the standard Luer taper in both male and female terminations. When pushed together and twisted, these terminations form a very effective Luer slip connection.
Luer lock connections are an extension of this principle, incorporating an internally threaded collar around the male nozzle, which, when the male and female Luers are pushed together, is screwed over lugs at the open end of the female Luer termination.
Benefits of Y Connectors "Y" Connectors are manufactured from polypropylene with ribbed and luer terminations to provide strong, secure connections
"Y" Connectors are smooth bored to help reduce turbulence to a minimum
Smaller sizes may be cleaned and will withstand steam sterilisation (autoclaving) at 134°C for 3 minutes
