Originally, I was hired as a senior project engineer, Sigma Six. In the beginning, there were two main attractions. The most important thing to me was to work in the medical industry, and the second was the ability to combine applied Sigma Six and engineering.

People here care about their jobs, and the products that Smiths Medical produces impact people’s lives -- at times in a profoundly positive way. It’s nice to be a part of that. I was surprised to find out that many of the employees I work with have used Smiths products.

I have a picture posted on my cube wall that motivates me every day. It shows my five-year-old daughter in the hospital, recovering from a serious medical condition. She is connected to two Smiths Medical drug pumps. It is significant to me because this was the key to her recovery, to be able to receive fluids and critical medication. My team and I made a major contribution to the development of one of the pumps. On that picture, I have written ‘What we do makes a difference". It speaks volumes to how true that is.
